“It was a birthday party the Queen would have been proud of.” The Press & Journal, 1st July 2006.
A Truly Scottish Evening at Her Majesty’s private Scottish home, Balmoral Castle, saw thousands turn out to celebrate her 80th birthday. An all star bill of top Scottish talent helped to raise over £80,000 for The Anthony Nolan Trust to help take back lives from leukaemia. Presented by BBC Radio 2's very own Ken Bruce, this amazing evening was the first of its kind ever held at this prestigious venue and featured both international and Scottish artists including world renowned classical singer Katherine Jenkins accompanied by the Aberdeen Sinfonietta, The Scottish Fiddle Orchestra, The Bon Accord Silver Band, Scotland’s very own Fiona Kennedy, young Steven Innes, Celtic Scottish Dancers, Mass Pipes & Drums, The Graham Geddes Scottish Dance Band, spectacular fireworks provided by Fireworx Scotland and a breathtaking aviation display performed by the 2excel Aviation Team.
The lone piper brought a close to a spectacular evening of entertainment at this truly spectacular Royal venue. “We can’t thank our sponsors, supporters and team enough for helping to make the event such a huge success and helping The Anthony Nolan Trust save many more young lives from leukaemia. We very much look forward to the next one!” George Walker, George Walker Event Management Ltd. |
